Update on the exercise
SimEx 2019 May 14th – 16th
It is a three day event based on a severe weather event including localised flooding, we are likely to provide logistics to many of the attending agencies, including Fire, Ambulance, UN, SAR, Recon teams, topographic teams, impact analysis and response teams and many many more.
It heavily uses Portsmouth and the surrounding areas to house many of the smaller exercises.
The exercise will be in two halves, the first half will be the National response to the disaster, all National agencies will be invited along to respond to the initial disaster in both Land, Sea and Air, as this starts to wind down during the end of Day one, the International response from ISAR, the UN etc will start to ramp up and continue through the next two days until EndEx on the Thursday.
We were able to camp on site and there were toilets available, food was provided last year but again, this I will have to confirm nearer the time. If it isn’t provided then we would be expected to be self-sufficient for the full 3 days.
We will also be using all of the operational equipment available to us, including but not limited to:
– Command and COntrol van including it’s full mobile internet, Air Shelter, mains power, twin screen computer system and built-in radio’s.
– Ticket’s dispatch software and it’s web interface for responders use
– Traccar – full app-based tracking to assist with tasking’s
– Viewranger – Useful for both on and off-road navigation
– POC Radio – For us, this will be a new form of communication which will vastly improve the operational efficiency of the team.
– Team members own skills and accreditations gained both within and outside of the group, this could include vehicle recovery, first aid, navigation, Operational Commander roles.
This year I have broken the days down to try and attract more members on odd days, There is still however the opportunity to come down for the full 2 and a half days. The times listed are only guidelines as to what have been our busiest times, please feel free to come earlier or stay later)
Day 1 – National exercise – 10:00 – 16:00
Day 2 – International Exercise 08:00-20:00
Day 3 – International Exercise 08:00 – 14:00
I’ve added a manning sheet link here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rgPiMb6NGHlI_ebwAIU6NdV1xdbFeQe7LB3Pex4pTeA/edit?usp=sharing
Please add your name if you would like to come, most of the manning is done on sheets and documents off forum as it reduces the need to copy paste data into lots of other places.
For now please only fill out your name and days you can attend, nearer the time I will ask for the other details in the form
Please keep on topic, off topic content will be removed
