Met Office Update

I thought you might appreciate another quick update on the weather conditions we can expect over the next day or so. Please note that an Amber RAIN Warning has just been issued for Sussex, Kent and the far southern parts of Surrey.

Warnings Issued:
– Amber RAIN Warning (Medium Likelihood of Medium Impacts) valid 1600 to 2100 on Thursday 13th August 2015 [for Sussex, Kent and far southern parts of Surrey]
– Yellow RAIN Warning (Low Likelihood of Medium Impacts) valid 1030 to 2350 on Thursday 13th August 2015
– Yellow RAIN Warning (Low Likelihood of Medium Impacts) valid 0010 to 2350 on Friday 14th August 2015.

Headline: There continues to be a risk of thunderstorms bringing torrential rain, lightning, hail and gusty winds to southeast England today and tomorrow.

Next 24-36 hours:
Heavy rain is now affecting much of southeast England, with some torrential downpours currently being seen, especially over Sussex and Kent. For example, there have been reports of 50-60mm falling at Eastbourne, East Sussex this morning, 24mm of which fell in just 25 minutes. I am also aware that these rates have already lead to some disruption to local road and rail networks due to surface water flooding.

Team still on STANDBY

thanks
